What does a 3000 year old wood set turned into a guitar sound like? Perfection. Power and Magic in a 6-string box loaded with potential. Not only is this a guitar with beautiful appointments, it's a rare piece of history. Breedlove unveiled the Ancient Sitka Showstopper a few years back, in which they acquired some wood sets of the now famous, 3000 year old Sitka Tree that was buried underground in a land slide. This oxygen free and mineral rich environment preserved the wood. When it was finally milled and cut into pieces, the normally blonde colored Spruce immediately oxidized with the air and turned different shades of mysterious grey, black onyx. The showstopper, which now has a home with one of our happy customers, was the first of the very few guitars that were made with this rare Sitka Spruce. Here at Music World, we know how incredible this old world wood sounds on a new guitar, and we ventured out to build another two guitars with this top.
On this guitar, you'll find a truly "UNIQUE" set of Brazilian Rosewood not found elsewhere. It's known for it's rich bass, balanced response and piano like sustain throughout. When recording samples for this guitar, as chords rang out in sustain, you can hear the harmonics bloom, into a pure decay that is inspiring. It's almost like listening to a piano in a concert hall with the sustain pedal down as it rings out. No other wood does this as well as Brazilian. Even more so as it combines with the 3000 year old Spruce top.
